In Memory

A couple of months ago, we said goodbye to a great man. On June 7, 2018, Louis “Kayo” Erwin Sr. passed away from this world into the next. He was a friend to all who knew him, a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was also one of the last remaining U.S.S. Indianapolis Survivors.
Mr. Erwin lived most of his life in East Ridge, Tennessee. This month, the city of East Ridge named a portion of Ringgold Road after him to honor his memory.
Mr. Erwin’s Daughter, Sandy points at the road sign that reads ‘Louis “Kayo” Erwin Highway’

Now, every time we drive down this stretch of road, we will think of Mr. Erwin and his friendly, gentle nature, his smile, and his brave service for our country. We will never forget him.
